The county-level municipality of Cixi is located on south bank of Hangzhou Bay, west of downtown Ningbo and northeast of Yuyao. Spanning an area of 1,154 km, the city has a resident population of 1.047 million. Cixi is the cradle of Chinese celadon.
Mountains surrounding Cixi include Dapeng Mountain, Wulei Mountain, Dalin Mountain, Laoya Mountain and Dong Kaolao Mountain.
As of 2015, Cixi's GDP reached 115.46 billion yuan ($17.04 billion), up 7.5 percent from the previous year. Cixi’s total financial revenue reached 22.07 billion yuan, an increase of 7.5 percent from the preceding year. With an increase of 3.9 percent, the public financial budget reached 11.23 billion yuan. The per capita income of urban and rural people reached 47,182 and 27,295 yuan, respectively.
Cixi exported products to more than 200 countries and regions in 2015, totaling a value of 69.42 billion yuan for the import/export of self-support products.
