Ningbo Catholic Church

First built in 1713 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Ningbo Catholic Church later underwent several different repairs and expansions before the addition of its bell tower in 1890. Covering a floorage of 4,846.4 sq m, the church consists of the bell tower, the vicar’s office, the central hall and living quarters.

Ningbo Catholic Church has a longer history than Wanghai Church in Tianjin. It is not only one of the few French Gothic buildings found south of the Yangtze River, but also an example of China’s modern history representative of many religious cultural exchanges with foreign countries.
