Ningbo Xiao Baihua Yue Opera Troupe is one of the most well-known Yue opera troupes in China. The troupe boasts many outstanding and talented actors, each professionally trained and having good artistic knowledge.

Since its establishment, the performers have grown into shining actors and actresses. They have inherited different schools of performance and put on many performances in many cities, such as Beijing, Tianjin, Wuhan, Chengdu, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Everywhere they go, they are warmly received by the audience.

The troupe has staged altogether 23 major operas and 33 performances. The booming operas may be divided into following three categories—Duplications and imitations of classic traditional operas, such as Five Daughters Celebrating Their Father’s Birthday, operas developed and based on traditional novels and stories, such as The Dream of Red Mansion and new operas created by the troupe itself, such as Zhao Fu Ma.

Two opera TV serials have also been adopted from their stage dramas, Three Attempts at Assassination of Empress and Meng Jiangnv.

The troupe has won many national and provincial awards, including one gold prize, one silver prize and two bronze prizes at the China Xiao Baihua Yu Opera Festival in 1994. The troupe also took first prize at the Rifa Cup Grand Prix for young Yu opera actors and received two nominations and one first prize at the Chaoda Cup Grand Prix for young Yue Opera actors in 1993. Ningbo Xiao Baihua Yue Opera troupe has also earned a multitude of provincial awards and one "Gold Art Award”.
