Samsung Heavy Industries (Ningbo) Co Ltd is a sole corporation established by South Korean Sam-sung Heavy Industries Shipyard in December 1995. The registered capital of the first and the second phase projects was $100 million and a new investment of an additional $78 million increased the total for phase three. The company is located in Ningbo Economic and Technological Development Zone, not far from Beilun Harbor. It covers an area of 787,000 square meters, employing more than 3,600 employees.

The company mainly focuses on shipbuilding, ship dismantling, machine foundry, land manufacturing and offshore steel structures, equipment, moving machines, construction machines and environmental devices. Its yearly production ability amounts to 220,000 tons with an export turnover of about $200 million every year. Products are mainly exported to the Koje Shipyard of South Korea and shipyards of Japan.

The company has gained the British LR and ISO 9002 quality management system certification.
