A railway route connecting the cities of Ningbo and Yuyao will open in this April.

At an average speed of 160 km/h on the 48.7-kilometer railway, the train traveling from Ningbo to Yuyao will take only 35 minutes. Eight trains will be put into service, each with 506 seats. Ticket prices have yet to be announced, but an official statement has indicated it won't be more than 15 yuan ($2.17).

As Yuyao is a county-level city in Ningbo, this route will be China's first railway within a city based on the existing tracks between Hangzhou and Ningbo. According to Ningbo's railway construction plan, more routes are going to connect urban areas and rural counties in the future to promote collaborative development.
