University students from Taiwan on internship in Ningbo shared their varied experiences with local media at the launch of this year's summer exchange program in Ninghai county.

The program is in line with plans to attract university students from Taiwan to experience life on the mainland during their summer vacation. This year's program attracted 100 students who are keen to learn more about the mainland, increase their understanding, and interact with their peers directly, according to an official from Taiwan Affairs Office in Ningbo.

The program which has been running concurrently for the past six years has received about 300 participants since its inception.

In an interview, Jiang Yilin, a senior from Taiwan Culture University interning at a start-up base in Ningbo told reporters she has been able to hone her ability very well in her new working environment, adding "we provide incubator services for start-ups. Colleagues here are friendly and enthusiastic towards work."

Most of the students who are in Ningbo for the first time were impressed with not only Ningbo's rapid development, but also its abundant historic and cultural heritage.

"Ningbo has developed at a rapid speed, especially in sectors like public infrastructure and internet use. Taiwan has a lot to learn from Ningbo. "We have learnt to use mobile payment app of Alipay, the car-hailing app Didi Chuxing and several food delivery apps. This experience has had a great impact on my lifestyle," Jiang said.

"Buildings in Ningbo are well-designed and match well with their surroundings." Zhang Kai, a Taiwan student majoring in urban plan and scenery design, commented on Ningbo's buildings.

After the launch, Taiwan and local students visited Deli Group, Eastern Art Museum and Qiantong ancient town.
