Cixi promotes trade and economic ties with BRI countries

Enterprises from Cixi, a county-level city in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, has teamed up to strengthen trade and economic cooperation with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Ningbo Daily reported on Aug 31.

Through overseas product exhibitions and economic exchanges, Cixi companies have been known by the outside world and the city is responding positively to BRI development.

Not long ago, 20 household appliance companies from Cixi took part in China Homelife Egypt, a three-day event held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. The event, held from Aug 26, promoted the international influence of the city's household appliance industry.

Cixi is taking advantage of its good port conditions and export strength to expand markets along the BRI. The value of imports and exports with BRI countries totaled 9.32 billion yuan ($1.41 billion) in the first seven months of 2017. Exports surpassed 8.5 billion yuan in the same period.

Last year, Cixi promoted 58 public exhibitions from home and abroad, 40 percent of which were held in BRI countries.

With the support of the Uzbekistan government, Ningbo Lyuxing Agriculture Science and Technology Company will invest in the multiplication of stud and commodity rabbits in Uzbekistan. With the country's support, 39 bases for rabbit breeding will be built jointly in Uzbekistan's 13 provinces.

Since 2015, the Cixi government has released policies every year to encourage local enterprises to build overseas branches. ECX, a cross-border e-commerce platform created by Cixi's enterprises, has achieved great progress in the United States, England, France and Russia. The platform will be promoted in Spain, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia in a bid to seek for further cooperation.
