Ningbo to conduct cooperation with Russian media

Ningbo is to conduct broad exchanges with international media organizations to promote itself on the global stage and introduce the world to Ningbo citizens, said a local official on Nov 27.

A delegation from Ningbo led by Wan Yawei, member of the Standing Committee of Ningbo Municipal Committee of the CPC, made a visit to the TASS news agency in Moscow and the St. Petersburg television station from Nov 25 to 27, striving to form a consensus on mutual communication and cooperation.

TASS news agency is Russia's largest national news agency and one of the top five in the world. Marat Abulkhatin, deputy chief editor of the agency, warmly welcomed Ningbo delegation and toured them around the newsroom and exhibition hall.

Marat Abulkhatin had worked as a TASS journalist in China for 12 years and had visited Ningbo for a report over 20 years ago. According to him, this is the first time for TASS to receive a delegation from Ningbo since it was founded. He and Wan Yawei expressed a common aim to deepen cooperation and introduce Ningbo to the world.

Wan Yawei also visited St. Petersburg television station and had an informal discussion with its deputy head on exchanging TV programs and jointly shooting documentaries.

During the visit, Wan Yawei actively introduced the social and economic conditions of Ningbo to the Russian media. Meanwhile, he conveyed his idea to invite international reporters every year to Ningbo to bring in foreign customs and advanced practices.

The visit was accompanied by Li Zhengping, deputy head of the Publicity Department of Ningbo Municipal Committee of the CPC, Deng Shaohua, deputy chief editor of Ningbo Daily Group, and Wang Wei, deputy chief editor of Ningbo Broadcasting Group.
