Zhejiang's newly released economic plan stresses Ningbo's important role in the province's artificial intelligence (AI) industry.

According to the plan, Zhejiang will further promote the development of its AI sector. By 2022, there will be 500 leading entrepreneurs, 1,000 high-caliber researchers and 10,000 engineering technicians in Zhejiang. The province will also build five research and development platforms within five years.

Ningbo is a core city proving hugely important to the region's burgeoning AI industry.

Ningbo will work to accelerate the formation of an industrial system for AI and high-end manufacturing. With resources provided by Ningbo National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Ninghai intelligent vehicle town and Beilun smart chips production base, the system will develop a wider range of intelligent devices and AI robotics.
