The Ningbo Petrochemical Economic & Technological Development Zone (NPETD) recently signed an agreement with Ningbo University of Technology for industry-university-research cooperation, local media reported.

According to the agreement, the two sides will co-build a postgraduate student training base at NPETD and work together on science and technology projects.

Ningbo University of Technology has strong related technical innovation capability. It will provide educational training courses concerning chemical safety knowledge for staff in the NPETD and carry out various forms of personnel training services.

"As a national integrated college in industry-education, Ningbo University of Technology will cooperate with the NPETD to help promote local economic construction. We hope that both sides will make full use of available resources to carry out all-round cooperation in science, technology, security and human resources," Su Zhiggang, Party secretary of Ningbo University of Technology, said at the signing ceremony.

Petrochemicals are the pillar industry of Zhejiang province. Ningbo is to build a world-class green petrochemical industry base which needs many senior engineers and other high-skilled staff. Industry-university-research cooperation can therefore provide important intellectual and technical support for the development of local enterprises.

The NPETD, located on the south bank of Hangzhou Bay is a petrochemical and chemical industry development zone in Zhejiang province and is also an important industrial base for chemical materials in China.
