The employment of international experts has helped pianos made in Ningbo go global, according to Chen Hailun, chairman of Ningbo Hailun Piano Co Ltd.

In 2001, the company invested over 40 million yuan ($6.3 million) in importing advanced equipment from foreign countries and built a team of technicians led by Peter Veletzky, owner of Wendl & Lung, a time-honored piano manufacturing company based in Vienna, Austria, for research and development.

"Peter is committed to tackling our technical problems," said Chen.

By virtue of the wisdom of foreign experts, Hailun has become one of the most popular brands in the global piano market.

The development of Hailun is a typical case in Beilun district, Ningbo from the perspective of introducing overseas talents.

The Beilun government has released policies on international professionals and established platforms to provide all-round services for them. For instance, a policy was made for experts from abroad in 2012, giving strong support for their livelihood in Ningbo. In the same year, an HR industrial park was established in Beilun to hunt for high-caliber talents.

Moreover, in recent years, the district has organized a few exchange activities to display the local industrial resources and job opportunities to foreign technicians. Also, the government once invited experts from abroad to inspect companies in Beilun for potential solutions to current technical problems.

So far, an aggregate roughly 7,000 foreign experts have been introduced to Ningbo's Beilun district, nearly 800 of who reside permanently.
