Ningbo gets national support to develop airport economy

The Civil Aviation Administration of China and National Development and Reform Commission, has given its approval to Ningbo, in East China's Zhejiang province to build a national airport economic demonstration zone, zjol.com.cn reported.

With a planned area of 82.5 square kilometers, the new zone is the 11th State-level economic area centering on the development of the airport industry.

According to the construction plan, the Ningbo Airport Economic Demonstration Zone will focus on the allocation and service ability for global resources, the cultivation of new development engines, construction of a modern airport economic system and the upgrading of economic quality, efficiency and driving forces.

Ningbo Lishe International Airport is one of the busiest airports in China in terms of cargo transportation. Last year, the cargo throughput exceeded 120 thousand metric tons at the airport, laying a solid foundation for the development of an airport economy.
