Ningbo, in East China's Zhejiang province, launched its first Poland Week at the Ningbo Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University (ZJUNIT) on May 30 and held an inauguration ceremony for the Polish Research Center.

The Poland Week activity, which runs to June 11, features a series of exchange activities to showcase Poland’s culture, architecture, film, and music to Chinese teachers and students.

Jin Weiliang, the head of ZJUNIT, delivered a keynote speech at the ceremony.

Jin said that the Poland Week event will provide a platform for promoting cultural and educational cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries.

"The launching of the Polish Research Center in Ningbo city serves the country's Belt and Road Initiative and significantly improves mutual cultural communication and economic cooperation."

Piotr Nowotniak, Poland's consul-general in Shanghai, also attended the ceremony and expressed his appreciation for ZJUNIT's excellent planning of the Poland Week activity.

He will strongly support educational exchanges between the university and renowned universities in Poland and further deepen that country's cooperation with China.

Ningbo, the host city of the China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo (China-CEEC Expo), has become a major window to strengthen economic and cultural ties between China and 16 CEE countries.
