An exhibition featuring culture and art from Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries opened in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, June 2.

The CEEC Culture and Art Exhibition, which runs until June 10, showcases the most distinctive items from CEE countries, including jade, amber and leather products.

An assortment of international cultural activities will be staged during the nine-day event.

Riga, the capital of Latvia, the guest nation of honor at this year's China-CEEC Expo, is a city with a long history and profound culture, some of which was captured in an exhibition of such cultural artifacts as leather belts that allowed Ningbo citizens to savor Riga's traditional charms. Two Latvian craftsmen were invited to demonstrate traditional leather belt-making techniques while a group of professional chefs presented Latvian cuisine on the sidelines of the exhibition.

Poland shared the development of its national aesthetic sense through displays of poster art closely tied to the country's postwar rejuvenation and rebuilding.

The CEEC Culture and Art Exhibition runs in the leadup to the 4th China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo, which is set to open June 7.
