3. Persimmon trees in Shilin village

Shilin village, meaning literally village of persimmon trees, is located in Dalan town, Yuyao, Ningbo. With a history of over 600 years, it is known for its abundance of persimmon trees. Each house is surrounded by the trees, some of which boast an age of over 300 years.

In autumn, red ripe persimmons hang like lanterns in the tree, forming a beautiful landscape with huge mountains, green bamboos and red maple leaves in the background.

The national 4A-level Danshan Chishui Scenic Spot also lies in the village, where you may go climbing and enjoy the autumn scenery, and have a taste of the alluring fresh persimmons.

4. Red maples along Qixiakeng path

Qixiakeng path is an ancient path in Qixiakeng village, Xikou town, Fenghua district. The soft road covered with golden pine needles and many beautiful maple trees flanking the path make it a perfect place for hiking in autumn.

It is a pleasant experience to take in the picturesque landscape while listening to the gurgling of streams and breathing the mountain fresh air.

You may also visit the ancestral hall of Wang Xizhi, a great Chinese calligrapher in Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420), in the village. Several generations of Wang's offspring are said to have lived here, which may be of interest to the art and history buffs out there.

5. Gingko trees around Tiantong Temple

Tiantong Temple in Yinzhou district is a well-known Buddhist temple in China. It is well known for a row of gingko trees by the Fangsheng Lake (meaning literally, a lake for freeing captive fish).

When autumn comes, numerous yellow gingko leaves sway and dance like butterflies in the wind, and cover the road like a gingko carpet, adding to the splendor of the temple and making you feel as if you were walking in an oil painting.
