The 10th International Conference of Advanced Materials and Technologies opened in Ninghai county, Ningbo, on Oct 24. 

It aimed at strengthening international cooperation in new materials and technologies among countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, and driving the application of technological achievements in this field. 

Over ten projects on technological cooperation and application of advanced materials were signed at the opening ceremony. 

The International Conference of Advanced Materials and Technologies is a large global academic conference initiated by Ukraine in 2000 that has been held in the Eastern European country nine times since.

It is the first time that the conference has been held in China.

"We started cooperation with Ukraine as early as three years ago, and with the stationery, auto parts, lamps, hardware and machinery industries all being well developed in Ninghai, they can provide the foundation of the application of new materials and bring more opportunities of development to Ukraine," said a conference organizer in Ninghai. 

Ninghai county, the host of the conference, cooperated with a group of Ukrainian experts in titanium alloy in 2015 and established a joint venture in this regard. 

In a sign of further Sino-Ukraine co-operation, in March there was the joint establishment of two research institutes in new materials in Ninghai between the Ningbo government and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. 

New material is currently one of the three emerging industries of top priority in the county, and it is expected to generate an output of 5 billion yuan ($719.8 million) by 2020.
