A trade conference between Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province, and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, opened in Shanghai on Nov 9, as part of the first China International Import Expo (CIIE).

More than 100 companies from these countries engaged in trade talks with the city's manufacturing companies, importers and distributors, and altogether 23 procurement projects worth nearly $1.2 billion were signed, covering the fields of equipment manufacturing, food and drugs, home appliances, daily consumer goods and service trade.

The conference was designed for blazing a trail in the city’s international trade exchanges and cooperation, by providing an opportunity for companies at home and abroad to settle in Ningbo and for Ningbo companies to go global, according to the city mayor Qiu Dongyao.

Qiu introduced the city's business climate, trade policies and its annual China-CEEC Investment and Trade Expo at the conference.

"Ningbo boasts active foreign trade, mature private economy, favorable business climate and abundant cooperation opportunities. Choose Ningbo, and you will have your success and future in your hands," said Qiu.

Qiu also extended a wish for foreign companies to pay more attention to Ningbo and conduct more exchanges and cooperation with the city for mutual benefit.
