Ningbo in Zhejiang province got the approval from the government on Dec 5 to build a general aviation airport in its Hangzhou Bay New Zone, which is the only airport of its kind approved to be built in the province this year.

The airport will be mainly used for general flights such as trial flights, tourism and emergency rescue, and will be put into operation by the end of 2020.

Based on the airport to be built, the zone has been working on building a general aviation industrial park, which will cover 10.56 square kilometers, for the manufacturing of aircrafts and parts, as well as other services such as plane maintenance and leasing.

The administrative committee of the zone signed an agreement with the aviation company Aero China and the investment company Ning Shing on Nov 30 to jointly develop a full industrial chain of general aviation in the city, according to which the latter two companies will help attract global aviation projects to settle in the zone.

The new airport, when put into operations, will further strengthen the crucial role of the zone as a transportation hub of the city, and promote the industrial upgrading of the zone.
