The grand final of the first Nottingham Ingenuity Global Innovation and Entrepreneurial Competition was held in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, on Dec 10.

Altogether 17 entrepreneurial teams from China, Britain, and India broke into the finals after eight rounds of trials.

A team from India seized the first prize and was awarded 200,000 yuan ($29,000). Seven teams from Ningbo made the top ten.

The competition, open to Chinese, British and Indian teams, aims to encourage innovative projects to go global and to introduce outstanding entrepreneurial teams from overseas to Ningbo.

It has received over 600 projects from 32 universities, colleges and research institutes since it launched in March, with more than 1,000 entrepreneurial talents participating.

"The competition offers comprehensive services for entrepreneurial and innovative projects from home and abroad to settle and develop in Ningbo, and encourages outstanding local projects to go global," said a local official.
