An exhibition showing the major historical events and figures of Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, as well as the major achievements the city has made over the past four decades, opened on Dec 20 at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing.

The exhibition, hosted by the municipal government of Ningbo, is part of the city's effort to celebrate the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up. It features 31 magnificent paintings and will last until Jan 2, 2019.

The city government launched the project to create the 31 paintings featuring major historical themes in 2014, inviting well-known domestic painting masters to take part.

The paintings were exhibited at the 2018 Ningbo Trade and Culture Week in Hong Kong this July, and were well-received among Hong Kong residents, especially Ningbo natives.
