Ningbo to strengthen monetary support for technical talents

A series of measures were released by the local authorities of Ningbo, Zhejiang province on Jan 24 to increase subsidies and incentives for technical talents, local media reported. 

According to the measures, the city will strive to cultivate 1,110 outstanding technical workers by 2022, with subsidies of 20,000 yuan ($2,969) to 100,000 yuan granted to each.

A maximum of 100 technical talents and 100 teachers from vocational schools will be sent on a subsidized tour to other domestic cities for study every year by 2022, and the outstanding workers shall be sent abroad for training and exchanges, with subsidies up to 100,000 yuan each. 

Those who strike gold, silver or bronze in global technical skills competitions will be awarded financial prizes from 250,000 to 500,000 yuan.

The city will also organize national technical skills competitions and award 10,000 yuan to 50,000 yuan to national technical talents.

Ningbo had 1.45 million technical talents by the end of June 2018, among whom 397,000 were highly-skilled. There are currently 70 workshops of skilled workers and over 300 private vocational training institutions in the city.
