Deputies to the fourth session of the 15th People's Congress of Ningbo are currently locked in discussions about the 2018 work report of the government.

The annual session commenced in Ningbo, Zhejiang province on Feb 13 with 472 deputies in attendance.

Qiu Dongyao, mayor of Ningbo, delivered the work report which included the achievements the city made in 2018 and the goals it established for 2019 at the opening plenary.

The report sparked heated discussions among delegations from Ningbo's districts and counties.

Deputies from Jiangbei district all agreed that the inspiring work report reflected the city's persistence in pursuing high-quality development. They combined the municipal government's plan with the status quo of Jiangbei, and exchanged ideas on what the district can do to contribute more to the city's development.

Attendees from Zhenhai district noted that facing new opportunities and tasks, the district should take part in the city's development with a more active attitude. Zhenhai deputies attached importance to science and technology, as well as the enhancement of infrastructure, which they thought are vital to Ningbo's quality development.

Xiangshan, a coastal county in Ningbo, is known for its ocean economy and leisure industry. Ningbo was approved as a national demonstration zone for the development of ocean economy in 2018, a project in which Xiangshan is a main participant. Deputies from the county offered suggestions on how to promote the innovative development of ocean-related industries from different perspectives. They also stressed that infrastructure should be advanced, such as through the construction and improvements of railways and sports venues.

The annual session of Ningbo People's Congress will draw to an end on Feb 16.
