Thirty-four voluntary activities of more than 120 hours is what Lu Lianguo, a Ningbo-born Chinese American has been up to since Feb 2 when the Spring Festival travel rush began, equivalent to seven hours a day.

Lu has been a member of the volunteers team in Ningbo Railway Station for serving passengers during the Spring Festival since 2017.

"At any time I could feel the kindness of the other team members and the support from the society for our voluntary work," said Lu.

Lu mainly served foreigners from various countries due to his language advantage, including giving directions and ticket buying counseling for them.

In addition, Lu offered voluntary help to patients at the Ningbo Medical Center Lihuili Eastern Hospital during this period, helping with registration, and blood pressure measurement, among other things.

"Everyone who is in need of help is my friend, and I take pleasure in helping them," said Lu.

Lu grew up in the United States and is in his 60s. He is a successful entrepreneur and has acted as the chairman of multiple Chinese businessmen associations in America.

He gave all his companies to his son in 2012 and settled in Ningbo to do voluntary work, saying "Ningbo is where my root is, and it will be my utmost happiness to do all I can for the city."
