A wireless mobile charging technology developed by Wenergy, a Ningbo-based high-tech company, was recently made available in Xiongan New Area, Baoding city, Hebei province.

The technology, allowing mobile phones to get charged by merely being put on a special table, is the second generation of wireless charging technology that only three companies are advancing across the world, including Wenergy, the only one in China.

"Compared with the first generation, based on magnetic induction, which requires mobile phones to be put in a specific position, the second generation applies magnetic resonance that allows phones to get charged within a range of 400 square centimeters," said Feng Weiyi, chief technology officer of the company.

Wenergy has cooperated with more than 100 cafes and restaurants in Ningbo and Shanghai to apply the technology, with 20 wireless charging devices placed in each of them.

"Our current goal is to 'modularize' the technology to meet the needs of different electronic device makers, so that many other electronic products can realize wireless charging, such as smart watches, VR/AR glasses, unmanned aerial vehicles and domestic robots," said Feng.
