With March 15 marking the World Consumer Rights Day, the China Consumers Association recently published a report assessing the consumer satisfaction in 70 domestic cities last year. Ningbo ranked first in the best environment for consumers category.

In addition to being the best environment for consumers, Ningbo ranked highly in other areas, too. It ranked second in terms of reasonable prices and third in transaction safety.

In terms of total scores, Ningbo ranked 10th among the 70 cities, after Wuxi, Nantong, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Beijing, Nanjing, Jinhua, and Jinan. Among the top 10, six cities belong to the Yangtze River Delta region.

As a city with a high consumption level, Ningbo hit 415.5 billion yuan ($61.9 billion) in total retail sales of consumer goods last year, up 8.1 percent year on year.

It has made vigorous efforts in creating a sound and secure shopping environment in recent years, improving the local residents' shopping experiences. Dispute settlement time has been reduced to three working days. Compensation totaling 3.98 million yuan and the return of 1,986 consumer goods have been smoothly handled over the past two years.

Statistics show that Ningbo residents were 97.26 percent satisfied with the city’s authorities handling of consumers' complaints and 100 percent satisfied with their on-time complaint settlement in 2018.
