A seminar on 5G technologies and applications hosted by the China Mobile Ningbo Branch was held on March 14 in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, where experts and professionals in this field shared their insights into the prospects of 5G technologies and how they will boost the local economy.

With the purpose of taking advantage of the opportunities that the 5G technologies will bring, China Mobile Ningbo has made great efforts in pushing forward the development of 5G in the city in recent years. 

It has to date experimented with several 5G applications such as  5G intelligent driving, in cooperation with Geely Automobile, 5G intelligent unmanned port, in cooperation with the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, and 5G intelligent manufacturing. It has also established a 5G technology lab at Ningbo University.

Notably, China Mobile Ningbo took the initiative in the industry to try out the 5G networks during the city's annual two sessions this year, and launched the plan of building a 5G pilot zone in the city to boost the local digital economy.

"We will continue to implement the national cyber development strategy and advance the local application of 5G technologies," said Fang Liru, assistant to the general manager of China Mobile Ningbo. 

China Mobile Ningbo has been cooperating with the local authorities in planning a batch of 5G and digital economy pilot zones and industrial parks to develop the city into a highland for the digital economy in China.
