Ningbo, Tsinghua University cooperate in urban fire safety

The Ningbo High-Tech Zone in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province inked an agreement with the Hefei Institute for Public Safety Research, Tsinghua University on March 14 to improve the local urban fire safety.

According to the deal, they will jointly establish a fire prevention and control network and a fire service system in the zone by using advanced technologies such as the internet of things and big data, to build it into a national model area in urban safety.

Specifically, they will build an urban fire safety technology innovation center to conduct research on urban fire risks and fire warning, and provide necessary consultation services for the local fire control authorities. A monitoring center will also be established to provide technical services for urban fire monitoring. 

They will conduct a trial project of fire-fighting technological application in an attempt to reduce the government's fire control costs, and establish a fast response mechanism to enhance the local fire emergency response capabilities.

The zone will encourage companies working on the application of the institute's technologies to establish joint ventures with local enterprises, to drive the application of the to-be-built innovation center's technological achievements in urban fire safety, and promote the applications to elsewhere in the nation.

In addition, the two sides will also set up an urban fire safety technology training base in the zone, and take advantage of the educational, technological and talent resources of Tsinghua University, one of the top universities in China, to cultivate more high-tech talents in fire safety.
