Zhejiang authorities in charge of air pollution prevention and control recently announced the province's first batch of fresh air demonstration zones, among which there are two cities, Zhoushan and Lishui, and 16 counties, including Ningbo's Ninghai and Xiangshan counties. 

The fresh air demonstration zone is selected annually from the province's cities at or above the county level based on their air qualities, achievements in air pollution control and frequency of major air pollution events.

Around 20 percent of the province's cities at or above the county level will be selected every year. 

Ninghai county is one of China's first coastal areas to open up to the outside world. It boasts many rivers and reservoirs, and is one of the first national water conservancy scenic areas.

Xiangshan county is a famous fishing county in China, with a coastline stretching more than 900 kilometers. It has been honored as a national ecological county and a national demonstration zone of marine ecological civilization.
