Ningbo establishes friendly ties with Brazilian city

The city of Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province recently established friendly ties with the city of Duque de Caxias in Brazil, according to an agreement inked between Qiu Dongyao and Washington Reis, the respective mayors of the two cities, on April 15. 

Duque de Caxias is a city on Guanabara Bay and part of the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area in southeastern Brazil. It is an emerging industrial and commercial city.

Qiu introduced Ningbo's advantages in port economy, advanced manufacturing and open economy, as well as its recent efforts in building a national demonstration zone for the development of high-quality manufacturing and a comprehensive experimental zone for the Belt and Road Initiative.

He expressed hope that both sides will strengthen cooperation in investment, trade, education and tourism.

Washington Reis commended Ningbo for its achievements in manufacturing and technological development, and went on to describe Duque de Caxias’ strengths in the port-centered industry and oil refining industry. He expressed hope that both sides will cooperate further in the sustainable development of the petrochemical, energy and transportation fields.
