A key promotional meeting for the upcoming Thailand International Logistics Fair, to be held in its capital of Bangkok, was held in Ningbo on June 4, where an invitation was sent out by Thai side to Ningbo's logistics companies.

According to the Thailand Consulate General in Shanghai and the office for international trade promotion at Thailand's department of commerce – the hosts of the meeting – the fair will be staged on Aug 28-30, with more than 10,000 traders expected to participate.

Organizers said the largest international logistics trade fair in Southeast Asia has been held for 14 years.

More than 400 companies in the logistics, warehousing, supply chain and security sectors have signed up to attend.

Logistics is one of the top four pillar industries in Thailand and has great development potential, said Thong Tangsritrakul, vice chairman of the Thailand Logistics Association.

According to statistics from the municipal bureau of commerce in Ningbo, the city's trade with Thailand reached around $2.4 billion in 2018, up 36.3 percent year-on-year.

Zhuang Yanlan, commercial consul of Thailand in Shanghai, said that China and Thailand have been enjoying sound trade relations in recent years thanks to the Belt and Road Initiative.

"I'm looking forward to Ningbo companies deepening their bilateral cooperation in logistics by attending the fair and tapping into the Thai market," Zhuang added.
