Ningbo Polytechnic, a vocational school in Ningbo, in eastern Zhejiang province, recently signed an agreement with Germany's Dresden University of Technology, one of the world's top technology universities, to work together in vocational education.

According to the accord, Ningbo Polytechnic will introduce German IHK or HWK vocational training certificates so as to introduce the European nation's dual-system vocational education system -- an education model combining school studies with company training --- to cultivate highly professional technical talent.

The education model will be applied in 12 majors in the Sino-German intelligent manufacturing school of Ningbo Polytechnic, including mechatronics, precision machining and industrial design.

A total of 67 Ningbo Polytechnic freshmen have been selected to be the first batch of students to receive the dual-system vocational education.

Ningbo Polytechnic school managers said they will learn from Germany's advanced vocational education practices, to develop a dual-system vocational education system with distinctive Chinese characteristics and cultivate global standard talent.
