Cixi, a county-level city in Ningbo, placed 7th on the list of the Top 100 Chinese County-level Economies recently released by the CCID Consulting Co Ltd, a respected consulting services company.

The county-level city is famous for its robust private economy. In 2018, its GDP reached 173.7 billion yuan ($25.2 billion), ranking first among all county-level cities in Zhejiang province.

Cixi has been developing industrial platforms to boost economic growth, according to local authorities.

Latest data show the city has 162,000 market entities, 18,000 of which are industrial enterprises. In addition, the output value of new products in the city's industries above the designated scale (industries with annual revenue of more than 20 million yuan) reached 27.07 billion yuan in the first half of this year, up 19.3 percent year-on-year.

Leading local enterprises have been carrying out intelligent transformations which will drive the development of traditional industries, such as household appliances and auto parts industries, said an official from the city’s bureau of economy and information technology.
