An intelligent equipment research institute jointly built by the Harbin Institute of Technology, Ningbo municipal government, and Zhenhai district government was officially launched on July 26 in Zhenhai district, Ningbo.

The HIT-Ningbo Institute of Intelligent Equipment will rely on the technological advantages of HIT, a famous research-oriented university in China, to develop artificial intelligence and high-end equipment.

At the launching ceremony, two high-end projects aiming to build a placement machine and automotive intelligence system were signed with a total investment of 80 million yuan ($11.59 million).

Since its establishment in December 2018, the institute has built five research departments and an international joint laboratory. In addition, Bao Weimin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was hired as the chief scientific advisor of the institute.

The institute has already introduced more than ten high-end projects and three sci-tech enterprises. A project to build a high-speed and high-precision placement machine has been granted over 70 national invention patents.
