Dongwu town in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, was recently honored as a provincial model town in environmental renovation, according to an announcement released by the provincial government on Aug 2.

"The town's scenery is beautiful, which made our assessment more like a sightseeing tour," said the assessment team for environmental renovation results from the provincial government.

This is the second time that the town has been honored with the provincial title since 2017. The town won the title this time thanks to its efforts to integrate various local cultural elements into its environmental renovation.

The town's environmental renovation project, which involves an area of about 1 square kilometer and a total investment of 100 million yuan ($14.19 million), was launched at the beginning of 2019.

The town invited a group of professional craftsmen to renovate the town, some of whom participated in the renovations of the Palace Museum, said Dai Qinqin, an official from the local government.
