Ningbo took the second place on the list of top 10 Chinese cities with sound employment in the second quarter of 2019, according to a recent report on China’s job market in Q2.

In the quarterly report, employment is assessed based on the ratio of the number of jobs in demand to the amount of job applicants in the city's local job market. The higher the ratio, the better the city's employment is.

The report was jointly issued on July 17 by the China Institute of Employment Research, a leading institute engaged in the research on labor market in China and abroad, and a job-hunting web company known as Zhaopin.

By the end of the second quarter, the number of registered employees hit a record high of over 3.76 million in Ningbo, 34,598 of which are college graduates, up 14.05 percent year-on-year, according to statistics from the Ningbo Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

In general, the employment situation in the city was stable in the first half of 2019. The total number of jobs in demand reached 750,700, 111,400 less than the same period last year, and the number of job applicants totaled 449,700, 27,300 more than last year.
