Talents underpin growth of manufacturing sector in Ningbo

Ningbo's talent net inflow rate in the manufacturing sector stood at 7.56 percent in 2018, said a survey released by Liepin, a job-hunting website.

The rate ranked the city first place among all the important manufacturing hubs nationwide.

According to statistics from Liepin, 68.57 percent of employees in Ningbo take the initiative to recommend the city to work, second highest nationwide, indicating a strong sense of belongings among them.

Since 2018, more than 10 world renowned universities including University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Harbin Institute of Technology and National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine established a presence in Ningbo, setting up either a campus, post-graduate school or research institutes.

To date, the city has introduced and built 81 research institutes and brought in more than 30,000 talents of various kinds, among which R&D personnel account for more than 70 percent, and more than 2,000 people hold doctoral degrees.

To achieve the goal, Ningbo has made a lot of efforts.

It firstly issued three intensive talent recruitment notices to invite elite individuals from all over the world during Spring Festival last year. In 2018, Ningbo successfully attracted 48 top talents including academicians at home and abroad, 160 leading talents and over 2,000 high-quality overseas professionals.

Ningbo also loosened conditions for fresh graduates -- with a college degree or above could settle down before getting a job.

According to Zhang Jingzhang, president of Haitian Group, talents are the key driver in innovation in the manufacturing sector.
