The sixth Ningbo Civic Culture and Art Festival will open in September and run until November, local authorities announced on Aug 28.

Since its inception in 2014, the festival has grown to be the largest and most influential cultural and art event in Ningbo.

Official data shows that over the past five years the event has held more than 1,000 activities and has been attended by over eight million people.

This year, the three-month festival will hold 235 activities, including cultural and art performances, concerts, lectures, and exhibitions of film and TV programs, paintings and calligraphy works.

Some of the activities will focus on the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, introducing guests to the changes the city has undergone over the past seven decades, said Xie Anliang, head of the office of literature, culture and film at the Ningbo municipal department of publicity.
