The final of the 8th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (CIEC) came to an end in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on Aug 29.

The annual event is the most influential science and technology entrepreneurship contest in China.

A total of 20 enterprises made it to the final, in the fields of biomedicine, advanced manufacturing, electronic information, internet, new materials, new energy, and environmental protection.

Zhejiang Huiyongxin Materials Co took the top prize, worth 500,000 yuan ($74,626.8), and was followed by Ningbo Shenqing Information and Technology Co, Ningbo Jenscare Biotechnology Co, and Ningbo Yuanxin Optoelectronic Technology Co.

Ningbo has hosted the regional versions of the competition for the past eight years, attracting more than 2,400 contestants and 1.7 billion yuan in investment.
