Ningbo was recently listed among the first batch of cities/provinces in China to participate in a pilot program promoting cooperation between enterprises and vocational schools and colleges, a government statement said.

According to the document released by six ministries and commissions including the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Education, a total 18 provinces and three municipalities with independent planning status will be involved in the program, including Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning, Jiangsu and Shanghai.

A plan to promote a national pilot program for the integration of industry and education was approved at the ninth meeting of the central committee for deepening overall reform in July.

According to the plan, the nation aims to construct roughly 50 model cities within five years.

Ningbo is currently the only pilot zone designated by the Ministry of Education to carry out coordinated development of vocational education and industry. Currently, the city is working to build a digital public service platform to facilitate cooperation between colleges and enterprises.
