Ningbo agricultural products enjoy huge popularity at expo
Agricultural products from Ningbo proved popular at the recently concluded 2019 China (Ningbo) Food Expo on Nov 11.
According to the Ningbo municipal bureau of agriculture and rural affairs, a total of 63 intended deals with a cumulative value of 128 million yuan ($19.1 million) were reached at the Ningbo pavilion during the four-day event.
Ningbo's retail sales during the event amounted to 38.567 million yuan in total.
A dazzling array of agricultural products including tomatoes from Zhenhai and tangerines from Xiangshan were displayed at the expo, tantalizing many taste buds.
A local resident surnamed Zhao bought four boxes of Xiangshan tangerines.
Zhao said that the delicious taste of the Hongmeiren branded tangerines make them worth the higher price. Her family plans to buy some every year.
Liang Chaben, head of Xinfenglian Agricultural Fruit Co, said that Hongmeiren tangerines will be harvested on Nov 16 and taste their best in mid-December.
Official data shows that the output value of Hongmeiren tangerines from Xiangshan reached 250 million yuan in 2018.
This year, the county is expected to produce four million kilograms of the fruit, worth a total of 500 million yuan. Since its inception in 2005, the expo has become an effective platform for boosting cooperation and exchange in China's food industry and a popular annual food event for residents in the region.
Spanning 50,000 square meters, the expo featured 3,000 booths divided into seven pavilions, showcasing thousands of food products from home and abroad.
