Ningbo ranks 6th in innovative strength in YRD
Ningbo ranked sixth in terms of innovative strength in the Yangtze River Delta region, according to a report released by the Shanghai branch of China Academy of Urban Planning and Design on Nov 27.
The report measured the innovative strength of 41 cities in the Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Anhui region, looking at 10 different aspects including industrial innovation, knowledge innovation, enterprise growth and high-tech zones.
Shanghai topped the list, followed by Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hefei and Ningbo.
Ningbo is home to 265 gazelle companies, according to the 2019 Report on Gazelle Companies in China compiled by research institutes affiliated with the World INS Conference, the Economic Observer, Green Ranking and Ucommune.
A gazelle company is a high-tech company founded less than 10 years ago which has seen at least a 20 percent increase in revenue each year over the past four years or earned revenue of at least 50 million yuan ($7.46 million) in the previous year, according to Xie Liangbing, head of the research institute of the World INS Conference.
The report ranked Ningbo sixth in terms of knowledge innovation, an important indicator measuring a city's scientific research and development capacity.
