The Dongqian Lake Marathon is set to be held in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on Dec 8, a press conference said.
The event, consisting of a full marathon, half marathon and mini-race, has attracted nearly 7,000 runners from 20 countries and regions, including the USA, UK, Russia, Canada, Kenya and New Zealand.
A total of 2,000 people have signed up for the full marathon race.
As a national A-class sports event, the race is jointly sponsored by the Chinese Athletics Association, Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Sports and Dongqian Lake Administrative Committee.
The race will start from the Ningbo International Convention Center and pass by many attractions around Dongqian Lake.
"In the future, we not only plan to build marathon routes that meet international standards, but also hope to turn Dongqian Lake into an attractive sports and leisure destination," said an official of the Dongqian Lake Administrative Committee.
