Construction on Ninghai General Aviation Airport is expected to commence in the first half of 2020 in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, according to local reports.

The airport, which will cover an area of 483.7 mu (32.24 hectares) in total, was one of the  major transportation facilities projects in the province's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) and is one of seven A1-class GA airports to be built in the province.

Ninghai also plans to construct an aviation town in Binhai New District in southern Ningbo.

With a planned area of six square kilometers, the town will be used for industrial and agricultural production, flight tests, aviation emergency rescue, aviation tourism, aviation sports, and other activities.
