Chinese micro novel creation base settles in Haishu

The plate-unveiling ceremony for the Chinese Micro Novel Creation Base was held in Haishu district, Ningbo on Dec 14, local media reported.

The ceremony took place on the eve of the fourth Ningbo International Micro Film Festival and gathered a number of renowned writers and critics such as Zhu Hefeng, Zhao Shuping, Chen Xiaoping, Zhao Ting and Liu Xiaobo.

Xia Yiming, head of the Chinese micro novel association, said at the opening ceremony that Haishu is home to many highly creative writers, which is the main reason the base will be established in the district.

Activities such as seminars and promotional conferences will be held at the base on a regular basis after it is put into use.

Zhao Shuping, chairman of the Haishu district writers association, said that the base's establishment is an affirmation of the achievements Haishu has made in micro novel creation, and writers from the district will surely create more works of excellence in the future.

Participants also discussed the current development of micro fiction in China and how it can be better disseminated in the form of micro films and short videos.

It was unanimously agreed that the adaption of micro novels into micro films is a promising industry that could help to boost the popularity of the novels.

According to participants, micro films require interesting themes and should be a reflection of contemporary society.
