Sixteen-year-old Kang Changhyeon of Korea took first at the 2019 FAI World Drone Racing Championship, scooping up both the individual and junior title.

The event was held in Xiangshan, a county-level city in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province from Dec 12 to 14.

Australia’s Thomas Bitmatta and France's Killian Rousseau shared the podium with Kang, ranking second and third respectively in the individual category.

Kang also led his national team to victory in the team category, in which China claimed third place this year.

"It's a happy day for me," Kang said, "All the players are great and we finished the race together. This award means a lot to me."

In the women’s category, Wanraya Wannapong from Thailand claimed the top spot at just 12 years of age.

"It feels great to win. The race track was really challenging and I had a lot of fun."

The competition attracted 112 pilots from 31 countries and regions across the world and was broadcast live at home and abroad.

Statistics show that the final alone received more than 10,000 views.
