Construction of Zhoushan-Daishan Bridge progresses
The cross-sea bridge connecting the main island of Zhoushan with Daishan Island moved one step closer to completion after its main tower was capped on Dec 18.
The busy waters and web of complex submarine cables have made the construction on the bridge's main tower difficult since it began on Oct 29 last year.
Thus far, the area experienced two monsoon periods and one typhoon period, resulting in numerous unscheduled shutdowns.
The bridge comes as an integral supporting facility for Ningbo-Zhoushan port, the busiest seaport in China.
Its construction is now halfway done and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021.
