Two agricultural industrial chains in Ningbo have been designated as provincial models, according to local media reports.

A total of 12 agricultural industrial chains across Zhejiang province earned the title. The two Ningbo chains consist of the milk industrial chain in Jiangbei district and tea industrial chain in Yuyao district.

Currently, Ningbo is home to 12 provincial demonstration agricultural industrial chains, each with an output of more than one billion yuan ($149.2 million).

The milk industrial chain in Jiangbei district is dominated by Ningbo Dairy Group Co Ltd, which now raises more than 3,000 cows and produces 40 varieties of milk products.

The entire industrial chain employs 11,000 farmers and provides milk products to 700,000 consumers every day, accounting for more than 70 percent of the fresh milk market in Ningbo.

The tea industrial chain in Yuyao shares is known largely for its public agricultural brand Pubu Xianming, which has an estimated value of 887 million yuan.

As the largest export tea distribution center in eastern Zhejiang, the city now has a tea plantation area of 63,000 mu (4,200 hectares) and an annual output of 850 tons of tea leaves. It houses 40 renowned tea producers, three of which are provincial leaders.

Yuyao has also been promoting the integration of the tea industry with the tourism industry. Official data shows that tourism revenue from tea amounts to 250 million yuan annually.
