Those yearning to take a trip this New Year should look no further than Ningbo, a coastal city in East China's Zhejiang province.

The following are some recommended places all year round.

Shangliang Gang

January is a great time for visitors to go skiing in Ningbo. Although snow is something of a rarity for the city, the Shangliang Gang scenic spot in Fenghui district is creating a ski resort with artificial snowfall.

Tianyi Pavilion & Moon Lake

Tianyi Pavilion is the oldest private library still in existence in China. The 26,000-square-meter library has amassed a collection of 300,000 books, 80,000 of which are considered rare.

Situated in downtown Ningbo, Moon Lake is surrounded by a plethora of restaurants – many of which overlook the lake. In the midst of the bustling city, Moon Lake offers a place to slow down and relax.

Gulouyan

Gulouyan is an ancient historical and cultural block built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The street includes numerous stores and restaurants. Each year, several folk culture activities are held to mark the traditional Chinese New Year.

Jiufeng Mountain

Jiufeng Mountain is a great place in Ningbo to admire plum blossoms.

Minghe Ancient Town

Minghe Ancient Town, with a history of over 1,200 years, is situated in Ningbo's Cixi city. Perched on the bank of Baiyang Lake, the town is emerging as a popular tourism destination due to its rich history, well-preserved ancient architecture, and enchanting natural views.

Dongqian Lake

Dongqian Lake, located in southeastern Yinzhou district, Ningbo, is the largest natural freshwater lake in Zhejiang province, with a water surface area of 20 square kilometers. The lake has been a famous scenic spot in eastern Zhejiang since ancient times.

Xuedou Mountain

Xuedou Mountain, located in the northwest of Xikou town, Fenghua district, has an altitude of 800 meters. The mountain has been named as one of China's five sacred Buddhist mountains. The mountain is home to a statue of Buddha Maitreya, which the biggest copper statue of its kind in the world.
