Ningbo's first hydrogen cell bus – produced by Zhejiang CRRC Electric Vehicle Co Ltd – rolled off the production line on Jan 2, according to local reports.

The bus can run more than 600 kilometers on a single charge. Its energy conversion efficiency ranges from 53 percent to 55 percent, tripling that of ordinary internal combustion engines.

The bus is equipped with five safety alarms in the hydrogen storage system which will go off in case of leakage.

A remote monitoring system monitors the power system in real time, looking at voltage, temperature, and abnormalities.

Ningbo has been actively developing the hydrogen industry using its rich hydrogen resources and strong manufacturing capacity.

According to guidelines on the development of the hydrogen industry rolled out by the local government, the city aims to build 20 to 25 hydrogen power stations and put more than 1,500 hydrogen cell vehicles into operation by 2025.
