Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province ranked seventh in terms of innovative strength in the Yangtze River Delta region, according to a recent report. 

The report released by the Shanghai branch of the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design evaluated 41 cities in the region based on 10 indexes.

Shanghai topped the ranking, followed by Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Hefei, Wuxi, Ningbo, Changzhou, Wuhu and Nantong.

Jiangsu province performed strongly this year, with half of the 10 most innovative cities being located in the province.
